New Install | Email Pipe Errors Out

Hi all,

I searched and could not find this exact problem. I have an Ubuntu server that is my host and mail server. Installed OsTicket just fine. Setup mail and enabled pipe, but when I send a test message i get this:

The mail system

<support@mydomain.com>: Command died with status 126: "/usr/bin/maildrop".

Command output: ERR: authdaemon: s_connect() failed: Permission denied sh:

/var/www/mydomain/web/helpdesk/api/pipe.php: Permission denied

I've made sure pipe is 764 and 777 and get the same result. What could I be missing?

What does your alias to pipe.php look like?

to "|/var/www/mydomain.com/web/helpdesk/api/pipe.php"

Apparently you set the permissions of pipe.php correctly but permissions need to be correct also on each directory leading to pipe.php. Did you check this?

Nevertheless, please: 764 is likely to be wrong. 777 is overkill. Some programs even deny to work with the all-open security risky 777. It should be 755 in general.

I don't know why you didn't answer my posting, but then there is a lot I don't understand. Maybe you want to try this from within your api directory (assuming you use Bash):

P=$(pwd) ; while ; do ls -ld $P ; P=${P%/*} ; done

Not sure what you mean by not replying. I tried everything you suggested and does not work, does not matter what permission I set, 764, 755, 777 its all the same.

Also what does that line of code do?, I ran it in the api directory and got this:

Assuming that your mail system is neither running as user web1 nor as a user in group client1 permissions of directory /var/www/clients/client1/web1/web are too tight. Open it up with

chmod o+x /var/www/clients/client1/web1/web

and try again.

BTW, the way you have set permissions on /var/www/clients/client1/web1/web/helpdesk and /var/www/clients/client1/web1/web/helpdesk/api is widely considered a security risk. Tighten them at least to 755.
